What Are the Requirements for Fine Art Course in Kenya
The fine art requirement in Kenya depends on the institution that you join. Mainly most colleges and universities admit students not on how well they have performed in Art and Design in high school but on the KCSE result, which sometimes does not reflect the student’s artistic ability. Most institutions will give their minimum intake on different levels, e.g. Certificate, Diploma, and Degree. But some more practical institutions like Visualdo Institute notice Artistic ability.
There is usually a lot when it comes to requirements in terms of materials to use in art class; understanding all the units that the students are going to learn can help us understand the materials.
Painting oil, Water, and Acrylics
- Shading both ink and Charcoal
- Sculpture
- Weaving
- Technical drawing
Then the student will need to be equipped with the following regardless of level
- Brushes
- Pencils
- Mathematical set
- Wood carving set
- Pottery tools
- Canvas
- Sketch pad
- Ink
These items are all a student needs to practically learn and understand elements and principles of art and design and develop skills. Some institutions will provide some requirements and ask students to come with a few, but all this depends on how financially stable the institution is and their way of doing things.
